One of the great successes in the last couple of years has been the compact yet bijou Cap 'n' Gown in Worcester's Tything - which is a model of reliability - but it still isn't afraid to try out and showcase new up-and-coming acts.

None more so than the soon-to-be-superstar that is the wonderful Christina Maynard AKA Tina V, who I saw for the first time at Flo Rowland's Get The Pluck Up a couple of weeks ago accompanying Chris Jones.

Now this was the first time that I've caught this young songbird and capable keyboardist in solo mode.

Worcester singer/songwriter Christina Maynard AKA Tina V
It's not too difficult to see and hear why she's ruffling a few feathers

Tina already seems to be the complete package with great original numbers like Chains Don't Give and You Don't Know Me, but as you know, I myself tend to prefer bands rather than solo artists...

...that's a stroke of luck then!

Tina's already got the jump on me as she's currently rehearsing with the extremely capable Blue Radio bunch of Si Anthony, Jimbo and Haydn Rogers as her support band - and they're already booked for a festival, or two, over the summer just on the basis of a few demos.

Now this is what we like to see folks and personally I can't wait to hear the Tina V band in full flight!
