They've been playing as a double act for a while now, but apart from their Friday Session a year or so ago, I've never actually caught Laura Broad and Vo Fletcher together "out in the field", as it were.

So I took the chance last Sunday to finally nail that hoodoo at the Cap 'n' Gown in Worcester.

Vo Fletcher is one of the founders of West Fest and is one of the stalwarts of the Malvern Hills scene.

Malvern musician Vo Fletcher
I reckon this was the first time I've ever seen him play solo

He also plays with the likes of Tyler Massey and the Klezmer-ish folksters Flatworld.

For an admittedly large chap, Vo has an astonishingly light and mesmerising touch on the fretboards - sounding at times as if he's playing two guitars at once!

Vo played a mix of ragtime and bluesy numbers before being joined by the wonderful Laura - and the blend of a singer with perfect pitch and a massive vocal range with one of the county's foremost acoustic guitarists is one of sheer delight.

Vo and Laura showcased a mixture of mostly their own numbers like Johnny Go Home and 'Out Of The Woods together with a couple of unusual covers thrown in for effect.

Laura Broad and Tyler Massey
Their covers gave me an idea as to their influences

I've never heard anyone do Snow Patrol's Run before, though - and I wonder if they knew that one of the headliners at this year's Wyeside Music Festival was the Spencer Davis Group when they closed off a sparkling an heart-warming set with Gimme Some Loving - a nice touch anyway, but an even better treat for me to finally hear two more of the great musicians we've got in one of the finest double-acts doing the rounds!
