Ragtime Ewan signed by the Malvern-based label Sawmill/Steelmill records

On the Friday Session the time Eric Clapton played a gig in the backroom of a pub in Martley - after losing a bet. They've been billed as Worcester's hottest act - and this weekend, Naked Remedy will open the Pitchcroft Fireworks Display. We pay tribute to the Redditch rocker Alex Woods, who took the Midlands music scene by storm. Plus, joining us in our Hereford Studios is the Hereford singer/songwriter Ragtime Ewan.
The Friday Session Introducing... Ragtime Ewan
He's from Ledbury, has been in the music scene for a number of years, but played solo since 2005. Ragtime Ewan has recently been signed to the Malvern-based label Sawmill/Steelmill records, after being dropped by previous management. Listen out for his tongue-in-cheek satirical look at the ways of the world on this week's Friday Session.

Introducing... The Music Map
Eric in the late 70's when a bet with Botham cost him dear
|
In our music map series this week, we look back to the time during the mid-80s when Eric Clapton played a small pub in Worcestershire! The guitar playing legend swapped Madison for Martley after losing a bet to the cricketer Ian Botham. We'll hear from BBC Hereford & Worcester's Dave Bradley - who was there - and Botham on this week's show.

Tributes
The tribute gig is on 7 November at The New Tardebigge
|
A special gig in memory of drummer Alex Woods is taking place on Saturday 7 November 2009 at The New Tardebigge, in Redditch. Alex died suddenly at his home in Malvern in August. His old band, Karma, are playing, with his brother Tom sitting in on the drums.
Naked In November! Worcester's Got Talent winners, Naked Remedy, are performing at the Pitchcroft Racecourse on Saturday 7 November to celebrate Bonfire Night. The musicians won the gig as part of a prize offered during the recent competition at Sin. Hear their reaction to the prize - and how the band went from a bunch of mates to being voted as the best thing in Worcester this year.
