A Worcester writer has had an endorsement of her first published book by two Poet Laureates.

Petrolhead is a collection of poems by Jenny Hope, an administrator at the University of Worcester, who's taken a degree in creative writing.

Her poems are about everything from tarmac to nature, and in particular, trees.

The book has endorsements from David Hart and Roz Goddard, both former Birmingham Poet Laureates.

Writing since childhood

Jenny, who lives at Martley, near Worcester, has been writing poetry since she was a child, and said she was delighted to finally see her work in print:

"I have had poems published in magazines before, but this is my first book.

"It's really strange to see it in print, but I'm really proud of what I have achieved."

Jenny graduated in 2005 with a BA Hons in Creative Writing, from the University of Birmingham:

"I did a lot of poetry as part of my degree, and some of the poems in this collection are those that I wrote for my dissertation." she said.
