Why can't I hear football commentary online?

The BBC does not own the rights to webcast Premiership and League football commentary. However we do stream FA Cup matches and non-league football. You can follow matches online with live text commentary and post-match interviews on the BBC Hampshire and Dorset websites' sports pages.

Why are Saints commentaries on 96.1FM and Pompey on 999AM?

Commentary on every Portsmouth match is available on 999AM and DAB Digital Radio in Hampshire. Every Southampton match will be on 96.1FM . When Pompey are the only Hampshire side playing at any particular time, they will be on our FM frequencies as well.

We want our commentaries to be heard by as many people as possible, and for listeners not to have the inconvenience of constantly re-tuning to support their team. The 999AM transmitter is located in Fareham and is a frequency that can predominantly be heard well in the Portsmouth and Fareham area.

How can I complain about something I heard on BBC Radio Solent?

We always value your feedback, suggestions and comments about our programmes - just send us an email to radio.solent@bbc.co.uk

Do you offer work experience?

We get a lot of requests for work experience - we do take placements between June and September. We only take one placement at a time and this would be for a two or three week period. Our work experience programme is dealt with centrally and you will need to complete the application form online. Visit BBC Jobs for more information.
