Portsmouth City Museum hosts A History of the World Day

From the remains of an incendiary bomb to an Olympic torch, there was a unique view of some remarkable historical artefacts at the Portsmouth City Museum.

The special event on Wednesday, 17 February tied in with the BBC's History of the World in 100 Objects.

Local Museum curators displayed some of their unique discoveries.

They revealed how our local treasures have made an impact on world history.

Representatives from the Isle of Wight Museum, Classic Boat Museum and the Royal Naval Museum were just a selection of those attending on the day.

There is plenty of half term fun for the children with activities across the day. Horrible Histories author Terry Deary was on hand to entertain the youngesters.

Hundreds of people also discovered the historical significance of their own objects and uploaded them to the History of the World website.
