Southampton tunnel from the east
The history of the tunnel at the entrance to Southampton railway station is as long and dark as the tunnel itself.

Amelia Earhart landed on Southampton Water on 19 June 1928 after becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic.

The giant granite fort in the Solent has been sold for more than £1m - it remains part of Portsmouth's maritime and military history.
