May 2010 States of Guernsey meeting summary

Minimum wage, childcare register fees, States housing loans and a vote of no confidence were on the agenda for the States of Guernsey May 2010 meeting.

Deputies agreed a rate for minimum wage and fees to cover the registration and inspection of nurseries, creches, pre-schools and childcarers.

They also agreed a number of changes to the mandate of the Housing Department.

A vote of no confidence, which had been brought against Public Services, was heavily defeated.

Ahead of the sitting of the States of Deliberation the States of Election voted on the election of a new Jurat.

Out of two candidates Margaret Spaargaren was successful.
