In Pictures: Rock of Ages
The fourth Rock of Ages event at the Performing Arts Centre on 30 October 2009 kicked off with a band making their live debut, Big Machine.
The band played a selection of 80s style rock and metal featuring songs by the likes of Bon Jovi, Dio and Skid Row.
The band got the night going on an upbeat note thanks to the high energy nature of their performance and music.
After the upbeat 80s metal of Big Machine gears switched for the 'EJs' unique punk rock assault which divided the crowd.
While some crowd members seemed put off by the 'EJs' take on punk, others joined in with some (mostly) good natured heckling.
The highlight of the 'EJs' set came when they were joined on stage by Tom Domaille of Brutus Stonefist for a run through of Alkaline Trio's Private Eye.
Another band brought another shift of style with the indie-funk-jazz of Schema providing a relaxed counterpoint the full on punk of the previous act.
Schema's John Sealey used a variety of sounds with his guitar and ably demonstrated the versatility of the instrument.
Schema's relaxed vibe proved popular with the crowd and showed why they have become one the island's most well known and versatile bands.
Things took a turn for the heavy with Thousand Points of Hate taking to the stage and being the first band of the night to really draw some of the crowd towards the stage.
Thousand Points of Hate mixed original material from their album with covers of bands like Killswitch Engage and Machine Head.
Teaspoonriverneck headlined the show, much like they did a year earlier, and, as ever, proved to be one of Guernsey's most popular rock acts.
The show marked something special for the band as it was Jon 'Teaspo' Langlois' last performance with them and so featured material spanning the band's career thus far in something of a 'greatest hits' set.
The band played material from their self-titled debut, Craft of Lisia mini-album and Sunset's Trip EP and the regular calls of "Truck", "Gideon" and "One Riff Pony" from the crowd definitely satisfied.
Following his departure from Teaspoonriverneck Jon will be rejoining his old band Insurrection who will be showcasing their brand of anarcho-punk in early 2010.
Teaspoonriverneck were joined on stage for one song by the five members of Brutus Stonefist who sang extra vocals, along with many in the crowd.
