The Mediaeval Baebes last performed in Gloucester Cathedral in December 2008
Following last year's sell out show, the Mediaeval Baebes will return to Gloucester Cathedral to perform a concert on Tuesday, 8 December, 2009 as part of a nine date nationwide UK tour. The tour has become a regular fixture in the Mediaeval Baebes' diary which has this year seen them touring in the UK and USA. Last year's concert at Gloucester Cathedral was recorded and released on DVD earlier this year. Katharine Blake, Musical Director and founding member of the Mediaeval Baebes said: "We are all delighted to return to Gloucester Cathedral. It made a beautiful and inspiring setting for our live DVD last year and we always feel honoured to be able to perform there." Unique sound Formed in 1996, Mediaeval Baebes are an all female group made up of Katharine Blake, Emily Ovenden, Bev Lee Harling, Esther Dee, Melpomeni Kermanidou and Sarah Kayte Foster. They create their unique sound by drawing inspiration from medieval texts and setting them to original scores with the use of both classical and medieval musical instruments, whilst singing in an array of long forgotten languages. In their twelve-year career Mediaeval Baebes have performed all over the world and have sold over 450,000 records.
