A selection of WWI and WWII memorabilia will be sold at auction in Gloucestershire on Thursday, 11 November, 2010. This photo: A Third Reich street sign from the liberation of Nuremberg in 1945, containing bullet holes from shots fired by US soldiers.
The sale will take place at Dominic Winter in South Cerney. This signed WWII Japanese silk flag was made by prisoners awaiting execution for war crimes. Inscriptions include 'Defeated but the spirit lives on' and 'With my whole heart I served Japan'.
This rare 36 inch Third Reich SS officer's dress-sword with an inlaid signature inscribed 'Heinrich Himmler' is expected to fetch between £2600-£3200. It dates back to the 1930s-1940s and includes an 'SS' motif.
This leather flying jacket was owned by one of the notorious 'Flying Tigers', made up of United States Army, Navy and Marine Corps pilots who defended China against Japanese forces in World War II.
The jacket features a sewn on 'blood chit' with a Chinese Republic flag over an inscription which translated reads; 'This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort. Soldiers and civilians, one and all, should rescue and protect him.'
What are these?
