Monrusha and Shamsul Krori welcomed Gordon Ramsay to The Curry Corner
A family run Bangladeshi restaurant based in Cheltenham has beaten off stiff competition from others around the UK to appear on Gordon Ramsay's TV show 'The F Word'. Curry Corner was chosen to appear on the show following a public vote of over 10,000 restaurant goers around the country. The show will celebrate the very best of Britain's independent local restaurants and seek out the highest quality food at affordable prices. In the second episode, to be broadcast this Tuesday (10 November, 2009), viewers can watch Curry Corner battle it out against Birmingham based Lasan in the famous F Word kitchen.

Indian food is the greatest cuisine in the world and Bangladesh cuisine is the jewel in the crown.

Fifty diners will then decide if they are going to pay for the three dishes each restaurant prepares. Each restaurant has the opportunity to choose the main course that they cook on the night. The starter and dessert are chosen by Gordon Ramsay. The winner of the episode will appear on a leader board which will be updated with the winning restaurant each week. At the end of the nine episodes the top six restaurants on the leader board will make it through to the semi-finals.

About Head Chef - Shamsul Krori
Shamsul Krori moved to England in 1966

- Shamsul has been a cook all his life. His mum used to cook and he was inspired by her.
- He was born in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1950 and moved to England in 1966.
- He opened Curry Corner in 1977 to introduce people to real Bangladeshi and Indian food.
- Curry Corner has secretly led the way for change for restaurants of its kind. In the 1980s they changed the décor and got rid of the infamous red flock wall paper - one of the first to do so.
- The menu is completely about traditional Bangladeshi and Indian home-cooking, with home recipes on the menu. He only uses fresh spices and doesn't service anything he hasn't tried himself.

Monrusha Krori is passionate about British farming
|
- Monrusha lives with her parents next door to the restaurant.

- Since she can remember she and her dad have always lived and breathed food, they used to design recipes together and always had input into the design of the menu.
- She is passionate about British farming and wants more people to think about provenance, to support local produce and for Indian restaurants to think about how they can improve their dishes because "Indian food is the greatest cuisine in the world and Bangladesh cuisine is the jewel in the crown".
- Since Monrusha joined the restaurant Curry Corner has won Cotswold Life Restaurant of the Year 2008. She says she is determined to put the first Michelin starred Bangladeshi restaurant on the map.
