Ten unsigned Gloucestershire acts make regional final

Live and Unsigned UK competition
Ten Gloucestershire acts have made the regional Live and Unsigned final

Ten unsigned acts from Gloucestershire have made it through to the regional final of the Live and Unsigned UK competition.

The musicians battled against hundreds of auditionees to secure a spot in the live shows and now have the opportunity to prove that they are the best in the county.

Once a regional finalist has been decided, the act will progress to the Live and Unsigned Festival at the 02 Arena in London.

Live and Unsigned is one of the biggest original music competition in the UK for unsigned bands and artists.

Breed, Cinderford
Carmen's Angels, Stroud
Charlie Baxter, Stroud
Lounge Fly, Cheltenham
Sam Holmes, Cheltenham
Superjuice, Stroud
Swift Manouver, Gloucester
Zenith, Stroud
Zen Elephant, Cheltenham

Attracting over 30,000 entries in the past three years, it has set itself apart from its predecessors by offering and promoting originality.

It's now established as the definitive music competition for original acts and it's open to all genres of music from Heavy Rock to Rap.

"This competition really is worlds apart from The X Factor and other TV talent contests," said Chris Grayston, events director of Live and Unsigned.

"We're all about originality, live ability and credibility. We don't accept demos or submissions and everyone auditions live.

"We've got some fantastic prizes up for grabs this year in a £60,000 prize pool so there's lot of opportunity for everyone entering and not just the winners - that along with the Festival means 2010 will be the biggest competition yet!"

The winners of the 2010 competition will have the opportunity to tour the UK and will also get experience of what it's like receiving media coverage.

The tour involves as many as 100 gigs across the UK including the chance to perform live at some well known festivals.

The regional final takes place on Saturday, 27 March, 2010 at the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham.
