Ray Clark wins radio award bronze

Ray has been presenting the breakfast show on BBC Essex since 2007

BBC Essex breakfast show presenter Ray Clark has won bronze at the BBC's local radio Frank Gillard Awards.

He finished third in the Best Presenter category at a ceremony held in Nottingham on Thursday, 8 October.

The gold was won by BBC Radio Nottingham Breakfast show presenter Andy Whitaker, with silver going to Bob Walmesley from BBC Radio Northampton.

The awards are named after former wartime reporter Frank Gillard who went on to set up BBC local radio.

"We're lucky enough to do a job that we love and we take an awful lot of people that listen to BBC Essex with us," said Ray.

"It's the inhabitants of 'Planet Ray' that make it work and if we weren't sat there with an audience that loves the station and gets involved with the station then it wouldn't be worth a fig and wouldn't be worth doing.

"So it's the listeners that make the thing work."
