Tom Courtenay, David Baddiel, Andrea Levy and Sara Paretsky are among the top names set to appear at the 2011 Essex Book Festival.

The event now in its 12th year attracts a host of award-winning writers every March, at venues across the county.

"This year's line-up for the festival brings together established names, up and coming authors, and talent from Essex," said Councillor Jeremy Lucas.

Tickets for the festival go on sale on Tuesday, 4 January.

"We envisage that big name authors will attract a large audience so make sure you book early to avoid missing out," said Cllr Lucas, cabinet member for heritage, culture and the arts.

The box office opens at 1000 GMT on Tuesday, 4 January. Bookings can be made online via the Essex Book Festival website, by calling 01206 573948, or in person at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester.

Mid morning presenter, Dave Monk, will launch the festival live on BBC Essex on Thursday, 3 March 2011 at 10am.
