2009 looks like being a classic year for fireworks

The early part of November is a prime time for firework parties and there is plenty happening in our county. So whatever you fancy there is a party for you at this time of year. BBC Essex presenters will be out and about at many of the events helping to build the atmosphere and launch the rockets into the night sky. Steve Scruton from BBC Essex said: "The evenings are great family occasions, and are very safe events. They also offer amazing firework displays." Sunday, 1, November Harlow District Council's annual bonfire and fireworks celebrations get in first for 2009. Admission is free and it starts at 6.30pm. Thursday, 5, November BBC Essex's Ray Clark will be in Gloucester Park, Basildon, for a spectacular on bonfire night itself. Gates open at 6pm. Braintree Rugby Club have a grand fireworks display at Beckers Green Road. There will be a funfair, BBQ and refreshments. It all kicks-off at 6pm.

Friday, 6, November The Green Man, Howe Street near Chelmsford is promising a huge fire and plenty of fireworks, along with a BBQ. It starts at 6pm and they will have a 'Best Guy' competition, with the winner getting their creation put on top of the fire! For more information and tickets call 01245 360203. Great Bardfield School have a special night of fireworks and food and it all gets underway at 7pm. Children get in free with every adult ticket bought before the night. Tickets can be purchased from the Great Bardfield Co-op or by calling 01279 822063. Saturday, 7, November BBC Essex presenter, Timbo, will be at the Danbury fireworks making it bigger and better than ever before! This event is likely to be one of the biggest fireworks displays in the county and it starts at 5.30pm at the Danbury Outdoors site. Ian Wyatt, from BBC Essex's 'Weekend Breakfast' show, will be in South Woodham Ferrers to launch a few rockets. Marsh Farm is the location and it will start at 5.30pm. BBC Essex's Phil Meacham is lighting the blue touch paper at the Witham fireworks. The venue is the Maldon Road park in Witham and gates open at 6pm. Etholle George, BBC Essex presenter, is hosting the Maldon fireworks in the Promenade Park. It all gets going at 6pm. BBC Essex afternoon presenter, Steve Scruton, is heading to the fireworks in West Bergholt. The action is at Heathlands Primary School and the gates open at 5.30pm. Kelvedon St Mary's Primary School on Dowcra Road have a fabulous fireworks display.It starts at 6pm. Colne Engaine will have a guy competition at their bonfire night. Turn up at 6pm for the start. Lambourne End, near Romford, have a fireworks night at the Outdoor entre on Manor Road. Perfect for all the family call 0208 500 3047. The Royal Gunpowder Mills, in Waltham Abbey, are holding their first public fireworks display, despite being the home of gunpowder since the days of Guy Fawkes. The fireworks are part of a family fun day and will happen from 4.45pm, in the afternoon! The day runs from 11am until 5pm.
