Essex Sports Awards to honour the county's achievements

Messrs Dowsett, Rogers and Huckle all claimed Commonwealth medals

The sporting achievements of the county will be celebrated at the Essex Sports Awards on Wednesday, 10 November.

The ceremony, organised by sportessex and supported by BBC Essex, take place at The Mill in Rayleigh from 7pm.

Among the categories are the Sports Personality of the Year, Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls, Services to Sport and Young Community Volunteer.

The awards will be live on BBC Essex and hosted by sport producer Glenn Speller and BBC London's Wendy Hurrell.

Previous winners of the Sports Personality of the Year gong include sailor Saskia Clark, fencer Alex O'Connell and karate instructor Lande Fourie.
