Unsigned band Silver Serpent have enlisted the acting services of former music promoter and BBC Essex presenter Eric Hall for their latest video.

The Chelmsford group approached the former EMI man, who has worked with the likes of The Sex Pistols and Queen for their video 'Voice of Doubt'.

The video, which combines live action and animation, sees Eric caught up in a case of mistaken identity.

"I liked the song, liked the boys and liked the video, so why not," he said.

"I've made a record, written a book, had my own TV series, but never been in a pop video," he added.

The band's manager, Julia McLellan, explained the reason why they had approached the music mogul.

"They wanted some connection between what they were doing, which is the first band to produce everything, from writing the material through to producing the finished video, including the animation and filming," she said.

"They researched Eric and found he was involved with Queen and the whole idea of doing a video in the way that Bohemian Rhapsody had been done.

"So they thought he would be a good choice."

The story of the video revolves around the misguided imagination of a driver of a Lotus sports car who imagines Eric has stolen his vehicle.

The live action sequences that bookend an animated 'car chase' were filmed in Hatfield Peveral.

It is the latest from the band, who have used a number different styles of animation for other songs.

"These days you've got to have some way of bringing your music to the attention of record producers," said Julia.

"And that's what they hope to do with this."
