A pumpkin carver from Danbury has set himself the challenge of breaking three world records in 2010.

David Finkle shot to fame last year after pictures of his hand carved pumpkins of celebrities made the national and international media.

He told BBC Essex he was now setting his sights on making it into the record books as the world's fastest carver.

"At the moment there's a guy who holds three world records for pumpkin carving and I want them," he said.

The current time for the fastest pumpkin carving stands at 24 seconds, but David reckoned he could beat that.

"I've already practiced and I've got that down to 19 seconds," he said.

"I believe somebody has carved 43 pumpkins in one hour and it took three hours and fifty-five minutes for the same guy to actually carve a tonne of pumpkins.

"I'm going to have a go at all three."

The current holder of the fastest pumpkin carver is Stephen Clarke of Orlanda, who set his time of 24.03 seconds in 2006.
