Redbridge Brass outside the Royal Albert Hall after their performance
Redbridge Brass came 15th out of 20 bands at the national championships staged at the Royal Albert Hall. The brass band, who practice in Chipping Ongar, performed a new composition called 'The Torchbearer'. The Yorkshire based Black Dyke Band retained the national title for the second year in a row. Flugel horn player with Redbridge Brass, Alan Roberts told BBC Essex: "All the bands are at the top of their games and have put hours of rehearsal." "We were really happy with how we played and were, understandably, a bit disappointed with our placing. "We had fun though and are now really looking forward to our concert next weekend," he said. Redbridge Brass have a concert at the Harlow Playhouse on Sunday, 25, October at 7pm called 'Spooky Brass'. Children under 16 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The music for the concert has been chosen to reflect the time of year said Alan Roberts. "We've got a cauldron of spooky tunes and haunting melodies, we'll even be blowing the cobwebs off Harry Potter. "Expect film music, TV music and the odd bang and flash," he said.
