From Autumn 2010, all the scenery for operas at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden will be made in Thurrock.

Shops in Harlow which are empty as a result of the recession could be turned into artists' studios and galleries.

Some of the county's 2012 hopefuls are to be immortalised in art, as a new project pairs sports stars with artists.
