The campaign helps thousands of children each year

Children in Need night in the South West raised an amazing £548,302! BBC South West broadcast live from the Sea Life Adventure Park & Marine Sanctuary in Weymouth's Lodmoor Country Park on Friday 20 November 2009. The cash raised will go towards projects to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Despite the economic conditions, the 2008 Appeal raised a record breaking £38m which helped more than 700 projects across the UK. In Devon, Children in Need is currently funding 25 projects having awarded £1,055,602 in local grants. Among the charities which have been helped is the Bidwell Brook Foundation in Totnes. It runs a programme of activities which helps young people with learning difficulties to master a range of life skills. Read our feature about Bidwell Brook

Each year people find more inventive, crazy and sometimes mind-boggling ways to raise cash, and this night is their night, it gives everyone a chance to hear from them how they raised the money, and to thank them for all that they've done.
