BBC Radio Devon presenter David Lowe
BBC Radio Devon presenter David Lowe is also a writer and showbiz columnist

After serving an unlikely apprenticeship as a civil servant, telecoms sales engineer, semi-professional rock 'n' soul guitarist, shop owner and full-time disc jockey, David made his very first radio programme in October 1981 (for BBC Radio Medway in Kent).

He joined BBC Radio Devon in August 1990 and, in January 1991, was invited to produce and present a pilot series of As Time Goes By - 13 editions in all.

It's still going strong today.

In addition to his broadcasting work, David is a writer and showbiz columnist.

He has been compiling his weekly LoweDown entertainments column in South Devon's Herald Express newspaper since 1987.

His other published works to date include articles and short stories on a wide variety of subjects, including travel, collectables, music, social and environmental issues, plus matters spiritual and mystical.

He recently completed his first novel-length work and is currently circulating sample chapters to literary agents and publishing houses.

David lives in Torquay with his wife Jenny.

He has two grown-up children - Jacqueline and Nigel - from a previous marriage.
