Richard has worked in broadcasting for more than 25 years
"It's a voyage of discovery, a programme where you will discovery something you didn't know." That's how Richard Green describes his show. "Whether it's the latest gossip from a showbiz guest, a local person with an interesting story to tell, or just the answer to one of the just-for-fun brain teasers - there's always something to glean from listening to BBC Radio Devon," he added. Richard still feels honoured to be part of the BBC Radio Devon presentation team, having spent more than 25 years in broadcasting. From the time when he started on youth radio with the BBC in Southampton, through to presenting various shows at all times of day with stations across Hampshire, Sussex and Hampshire. "My greatest move, though, was coming to Devon more than 12 years ago," said Richard. "My family had always holidayed in the county, my parents had a house in Cullompton and I knew Devon was a beautiful part of the world so I was delighted to get the chance to produce and present programmes here." Football fan Since joining BBC Radio Devon in 1998, Richard has been heard in a variety of roles including breakfast show host and sport commentator, but adores providing his current afternoon and '80s shows. "For someone passionate about music and people - it's just the best job in the world," he said.
Among Richard's recent highlights he was invited to have a chat with Gloria Estefan in Miami

"I can't believe that I have the opportunity to speak to people I've long admired from Devon and all around the world, whether celebrities or everyday, ordinary people." He's on good terms with Philip Michael Thomas, aka Ricardo Tubbs from Miami Vice, and has brought James Morrison and the Saturdays onto the programme. "They were all good fun, but so too was the witch-to-be from Lympstone and the puppet-maker from Torbay". Richard's also a big football fan. "I support Southampton - my hometown team, but the less said about them at the moment the better." You'll also be able to discover how Jimmy Giles and Richard combine their talents on the occasional Exeter City Football commentary. It's always a great listen as they're good friends and provide a unique twist of humour to the serious business of football commentary. So will you take a trip with Richard on BBC Radio Devon? No matter where you find him on the station's output, a voyage of discovery awaits - with treasure and golden moments ahead. "Aha my hearties!"
