Take a boat trip along the Tamar

The Tamar was once the main means of transport for the mine workings.

All the minerals had to be taken down the river to the sea before the railway was built.

It was also the main route to transport the abundance of fruit traditionally grown in the orchards of the valley.

But, as BBC Spotlight's David Braine discovers, most boat trips along the Tamar these days are for recreational purposes.

David meets ferryman Alex Friendship in this film.
