The 5,000 residents of Devonport in Plymouth have received copies of a 256-page illustrated history of the area. The book has been compiled by city historian Chris Robinson. This image shows William Street.
The book covers the entire story of Devonport from its modest origins with the establishment of the King's New Dock in 1690 to the present day.
It was commissioned by Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership. This image shows troops gathering in Devonport in about 1896.
DCRP chair Marc Gardiner said: "This in-depth and fascinating account has taught me much I didn't know and corrected me on much I thought I did."

It is the first ever fully-illustrated history of Devonport. "It puts the story of this community in context," said Chris Robinson.
