ART AND EXHIBITIONS
Street photography is the main focus of the prestigious
taking place in Derby throughout March. The event is hailed as one of the country's foremost photography festivals.
It features exhibitions, workshops, commissions, screenings, mass participation, talks, publications and conferences at a variety of venues throughout the city.
• The 11th annual
Battle of the Bands
takes place on Tuesday, 1 March in the Darwin Suite. A competition featuring some of the region's most talented young musicians competing for a place in the UK Skills National Music Competition for 2011.
• Kate Rusby takes her inimitable style of folk music to the
Buxton Opera House
with a mixture of traditional and self-penned songs.

Wendi Peters will star as Bet in April in Paris
• John Godber's comedy
April in Paris
comes to the Derby Theatre from Tuesday, 1 March to Saturday, 5 March. Wendi Peters (Coronation Street's Cilla Battersby-Brown) stars as Bet - one half of a passionless couple who win a one-night holiday to the French capital complete with all its trials and tribulations.
• There's a night of entertainment at The Blessington Carriage, Derby, on 7 March with the "Should I stay or Should I Go" Comedy Showcase as 15 aspiring comics go head to head in true X-Factor/Britain's Got Talent style, battling it out to prove themselves to a discerning audience.
