Guy Fawkes Night, or Bonfire Night, is upon us - which means it's time to put on your wellies, dig out your mittens, wrap up in as many layers as you can find and head to your local, organised display.

Check out our guide to some of the celebrations taking place in Derbyshire.

And if you can't find details of the event you're looking for, it means we probably haven't been told about it!

Tuesday, 3 November

Merrill College

Brackens Lane, Alvaston (entry via the bottom canal path gates)

Start time: 18.00, First display (low noise) 18.30, Main display 19.00

Refreshments on sale and music all evening.

Thursday, 5 November

The Devonshire's Bonfire and Fireworks Celebration

71 Bridge Street, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 1BA

Gates open at 18:00, Bonfire Lit at 19:00, Fireworks from 19:15

Disabled Access, Outdoor BBQ, Hot and Cold Drinks, Licensed Bar.

Less than five minutes walk from both Belper Bus and Train Stations.

A sparkler has the same heat as a welding iron. Would you give your child a welding iron to play with?
It is an offence (punishable by fine) for anyone under the age of 18 to be in possession of a firework (other than a sparkler) in a public place

Hartshorne Cricket Club Bonfire & Firework Spectacular

Belper Meadows Sports Club

Golden Valley Caravan Park

Display starts: 20.00 with bar and cafe open from 18.00 for refreshments

Wirksworth Fireworks Extravaganza

Wapentake Field near Ravenstor (National Stone Centre)

Start time: from 18:00

Admission costs: Adult £6, child/concession £3, family (4) £15 on the night (£4, £2 and £10 in advance)

There is limited car parking at the event but you can travel to the event by train from the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway's station at Wirksworth - £3.00 park and ride system.

Etwall Cricket Club

Start time: 17.45

Bar and hot food available, fire entertainer and bouncy castle (weather permitting)

Admission costs: £12 per family or £4 per single on the night (£10 & £3 prepaid). Proceeds to Etwall Primary School SOS swimming pool appeal and Etwall Cricket Club.

Alvaston & Boulton Cricket Club

Raynesway, Derby

Opens: 18.00, Bonfire 19.00, Fireworks 19.30

Bar & hot food available, Bouncy Castle, Bungie Slide and Sumos

Admission Cost: £2 per person, under 5s free.

Midland Railway, Butterley

Fireworks: The display is at Swanwick Junction, with trains running to and from Butterley Station to the display area between 17.30 and 19.15.

The display will be set to music.

Admission costs: Adult £9, children free.

The museum , Stationary Power display, shops and Buffets will be open as will the Demonstration Signal Box and Victorian Railwaymans Church.

The narrow gauge Golden Valley Light Railway will be taking visitors on a ride through the 'spooky' Country Park (extra charge).

Sunday 8 November

Mickleover Sports Club

Station Road, Mickleover

Fun Fair starts at 16.15 with Firework Extravaganza at 19.15.

Entry is £5 (admits 1 adult and 1 child )
