The white cross tells you you're in the company of Christian Bikers
He started out on a less than mean machine, but Ian Cameron swiftly became a member of the cool bikers' clan.
These days he's a member of a clan he'd doubtless consider even cooler: The Christian Motorcyclists Association.
There are branches all over the country, but Ian represents the CMA for the East Midlands.
You'll find him at all kinds of biker events, where he's more than likely to offer you a free Biker Bible, and invite you to their Holy Joe's cafe.
In all the Christian Motorcyclists Association has some 400 members.
Their branches have smaller spin-off, fetchingly known as twigs.
The riders sport the white cross on their backs when they show up at biker events to share the Gospel with folk who may not be standard church-goers.
Ian Cameron himself got his wheels early: back in the '70s his first bike was a Suzuki AP50 - which he immediately wrote off.
Despite putting himself in hospital our budding biker was undeterred.
He "ignored what my mum said" and bought another one.
Growing up while trading up, Ian may have access to a slicker specimen these days, but he's also widened his horizons.
A Christian now, and an enthusiastic member of the CMA, Ian spends his time at biker gatherings lending a listening ear in their mobile cafe, or giving out specially formatted Biker Bibles.
Those Bibles shrewdly include contact details for worldwide biker organisations, and you can get them hand-delivered if you consult the CMA website.
So next time you see a motley crew of motorcyclists streaming past, look out for the white cross: now you know what it means, and it could be Ian wearing it.
