The young reindeers are being raised on a special diet
Christmas is on its way - and Derbyshire just got that bit more festive with two very special new arrivals.
Star and Snowflake are a couple of reindeers who have just been purchased by the owners of Oak Lodge Open Farm in Foston.
The young pair are still very nervous but it's hoped they will soon be able to meet members of the public.
Owner Sarah Goodwin said she bought the reindeers to provide a festive feel.
She told BBC Radio Derby's Sally Swinfen: "We were looking for something a little bit different for the farm. We saw them advertised, went to have a look and fell in love with them.
"Hopefully this week, we'll be able to put some lead reins on them and lead them around the stables.
"After that we should be able to have them out in the open so people can come and see them."
The reindeers were bought from a breeder in Blithbury and are currently on a special diet imported from Scandinavia.
Despite living in England all their lives, Sarah explained that some instincts are still deeply ingrained in their characters.
She explained: "They're quite funny. They still have the instinct of kicking at their water bowls, thinking they need to break the ice so they can have a drink!"
