Flood waters at Skelwith Bridge
Dean Ball was driving to Kendal with his children when a surge of water from the River Brathay washed his car away.

In the Lorton valley bridges are down, roads ruined, and people are having to cope as best they can.

There have been many stories of lucky escapes and rescues over the last few days but not many can match this one.
