Children in Need logo
The campaign helps thousands of children each year

Hundreds of organisations are using grant money from Children in Need to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

Despite the economic conditions, the 2008 Appeal raised a record breaking £37.8m which has helped more than 700 projects across the UK.

Over the past year, various projects across Coventry and Warwickshire have received funding from Children in Need.

This year, Friday, 20 November, marks the 30th BBC Children in Need Appeal.

Some of the charities to receive a grant over the past year include Warwickshire Domestic Violence Support Services in Rugby, Doorway in Bedworth, Ley Group Young People's Project in Coventry, Round Oak School and Support Service in Warwick and Safeline, also in Warwick.

In total, these grants almost equal £400,000 and will make a great deal of difference to those in Coventry and Warwickshire. You can find out more about the grants and charities on the BBC Children in Need website. Click here for further information

BBC Coventry & Warwickshire will be having a special concert at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre on Friday, 20 November. Hosted by our very own Bob Brolly, guests include Blake and Foster and Allen. Tickets for this event have now completely sold out, but you will still be able to hear it live on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire between 1200-1400.
