Remembering the Coventry Blitz: We'll Tweet again
1940 Twitter promo
What would Twitter be like in 1940?

To coincide with BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's series to mark the 70th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz, we have a Twitter page with a difference.

We have created a page which could have been used by our newsroom in 1940 - if the internet had been around then!

The social media site, which lets you report in no more that 140 characters, will give local and national news from 1940 along with the date and time.

The page will lead up to the night of 14 November 1940.

Alongside serious news, you might also find out what's on at the cinema, the time of blackout for that particular day, and other stories hitting the headlines in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Why not follow us at our

We will try and be as historically accurate as we can with our tweets and remember, this is looking back at news from 70-years ago, so none of it is current news. It is just a different and imaginative way of looking back at our city and the world in 1940.
