With over 15 varieties of pumpkins and 75 different types of vegetable, the Heligan Harvest Display is not to be missed
Every year The Lost Gardens of Heligan organise a series of celebrations to mark the autumn harvest.
One such event is the Heligan Harvest Display which involves art and wildlife activities.
To celebrate this year's Harvest Display, Wild Food Forager Rachel Lambert will be offering Wild Harvest Food Walks around The Lost Gardens.
The walks will take place on Wednesday 27 October alongside a host of activities.
Rachel has plenty of experience when it comes to identifying and foraging for wild food having foraged since 1996 and hosting walks for over three years.
Reflecting on her experiences she says "Throughout my life nature has been a consistent theme and learning about and enjoying wild edible plants really does provide food for the body, mind and soul."
The walks which take place on October 27 will be for foragers of all abilities, promising something for everyone as participants learn about the different types of wild food growing locally and develop the skills and confidence needed to forage on their own.
As well as the wild walks, Heligan are also hosting a series of other events as part of the Harvest celebrations.
Autumn at The Lost Gardens
Heligan Harvest Display
Exhibiting the "the fruition of the gardening year" the garden's produce is harvested and used in a range of displays created by the Heligan team. The displays always promise plenty of autumnal colour thanks to the range of Pumpkins, squashes, gourds, aubergines, and produce on display.
Rachel Lambert has over a decade of foraging experience
The display runs from 10am to 5pm for one week between Friday 22nd and Sunday 31st October.
Drawing in the Heligan Harvest
Celebrating its eleventh birthday, 'The Big Draw', is a nationwide event practiced in 1000 venues across the UK every October; which aims to get over half a million people drawing, helping them express their creative side.
Heligan's theme for the event "Drawing in the Heligan Harvest" compliments the seasonal gardening activities and the annual Harvest display. Visitors can bring their own drawing materials but some equipment will be provided by Heligan for a small donation.
The draw takes place between 10am and 4pm on the weekend of Saturday 23rd to Sunday 24th October.
