Most annoying urban pothole winner - The Potty awarded to Fortescue Road
|
The winners of the prestigious Potties have been announced on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. In the world of potholes and pitted roads, The Potties rank up there with The Oscars, The BRITS and BAFTAs. Spearheaded by Andie Harper and the mid-morning team, Potty nominations flooded in from around the county. It was a big day for the pothole in the city's Devonshire Road, which scooped Potties in two categories - largest and deepest pothole in Cambridgeshire. Driver frustration Here at BBC Cambridgeshire, we have been inundated with reports of potholes and subsidence affecting roads right across the county. The problems were exacerbated by the heavy snow at the end of December 2009, and further snow and freezing conditions throughout January and February 2010 made the problems even worse. While councils have been doing their best to repair the roads - when weather conditions allowed - many have still not been touched, new potholes have emerged, and some of those repaired a few months ago, now need repairing again.
