RAF band's debut Bristol show

Ian Lavender

Bristol is preparing to welcome the bandsmen of the Royal Air Force, ahead of their debut concert in the city.

The RAF In Concert will be performing at the Colston Hall on Wednesday, 18 November 2009.

The event will include a mix of light classics, jazz, big band music and songs from the shows.

Dad's Army star Ian Lavender will be introducing the programme, conducted by Squadron Leader Duncan Stubbs, which is designed to appeal to all ages.

Musical highlights will include music from the movies including The Great Escape, Dr No and The Dambusters, a medley of military marches, and some super-speedy xylophone work on the William Tell Overture.

Ian said: "I was delighted to be asked to work again with the Bands of the Royal Air Force, and I'm looking forward to comparing this very special concert featuring one of the Service's top bands."

The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets, priced from £13.50 to £19.50, are available from the box office on 0117 922 3686.

More information and full concert tour venue details are available on the website.
