A BBC Children in Need grant for more than £75,000 will help pay for holiday play schemes for disadvantaged children living in Lawrence Weston.

The cash will go towards paying the wages for a new senior play worker and part of the project manager's salary over the next three years.

It will enable Lawrence Weston Out of School Activities to continue to provide the service, as well as holiday play schemes in the Bristol suburb.

More than 130 primary school children from six different schools will be able to take part in the activities.

BBC Bristol's Graham Torrington presented the cheque to project manager Barry Abbott for £75,501.

Barry said that the grant will help give the club some stability over the next three years.
