History lovers in Bristol are being given the chance to visit the city's museum after dark.

The City Museum and Art Gallery is kicking off a series of late night openings on Wednesday, 7 July.

After that, the building will be open until 8pm every Wednesday and visitors will get the chance to explore all the galleries and exhibitions.

This week, visitors will also get the opportunity to take part in the launch of the museum's "exciting new installation" by Ellen Bell and hear about the inspiration behind her new work, Story.

Julie Finch, from Bristol's Museums, Galleries and Archives, said: "Late night openings are a perfect way of giving people who don't have much time the opportunity to experience some of the fantastic cultural and entertainment opportunities in the city."

The late nights accompany a series of performances, talks and music - for more information, check out the Bristol City Council website or call 0117 922 3571.
