Boogie for Brizzle is back at zoo

Boogie for Brizzle will take place on July 18, 2009 from 3pm until late.

Bristol Zoo's annual summer festival is back for another jammed packed day of music, theatre, circus acts, cabaret, food, drink and fun later this month.

Boogie for Brizzle will be held on Saturday 18 July, 2009 in the Zoo's 12-acre grounds.

The event aims to celebrate and showcase Bristol's home-grown talent, including some of the best performers and live music the city has to offer.

It is the only night of the year the entire zoo stays open until late.

The line up on the zoo's Main Stage includes urban reggae from Laid Blak, mellow acoustic vocals from Phil King and eclectic acappella from World Roots Voice Ensemble.

It also includes a soulful country set from Phantom Limb, featuring vocalist Yolanda Quartey from Bristol band Massive Attack.

Over on the Other Stage will be the Splott Brothers and their family orientated street theatre.

Throughout the day there will be walkabout entertainers, circus skills workshops, magic shows and gorilla games.

The event is in support of Bristol Zoo's Year of the Gorilla campaign, raising funds and awareness to help the survival of the critically endangered animals.

Boogie for Brizzle takes place from 3pm until late.
