New way to 'do church' in Priston
The Priston Filling Station
The Priston Filling Station meets on the third Tuesday of every month

A new way to 'do church' has been launched in Priston.

The cafe-style church, known as 'The Filling Station', aims to offer church-goers a relaxed and informal meeting place.

Founded by Reverend Richard Fothergill, it is the fourth in a series of such initiatives around the Bath and North East Somerset area.

The Priston Filling Station meets in Priston Mill on the third Tuesday of every month.

Instead of meeting in a traditional church building, Filling Stations are held in village halls, restaurants and cafes.

Reverend Fothergill said: "In a culture more familiar with cafes than gothic church buildings, we are presenting the central core of our Christian faith in a manner, and unusual location, that will hopefully appeal to a lot of new people.

"The new Filling Station meeting in Priston Mill...is a good example of how to express the Christian faith in a modern, enjoyable and accessible way."

Filling Station meetings include modern worship, teaching and prayer ministry.

Over 70 people attended the first meeting on Thursday, 22 October, 2009.

The next Priston Filling Station will be held on Tuesday, November 17, starting at 7.30pm at Priston Mill.
