Bristol's oldest standing building has been given almost £500,000 to help with repairs and restoration, including urgent work to repair its roof and important early Norman masonry.
St James Priory, a Grade 1 listed church, was built in the city centre almost 900 years ago.
The building is also used as a treatment centre for people with addiction problems.
The money comes from English Heritage and is in addition to £3m already awarded to help conserve the building.
