As part of the BBC's History of the World project, Inside Out goes in search of a historic artefact that defined a period in history - a beautiful diamond and ruby brooch.
Singer Dame Clara Butt (1872-1936) was the Kylie Minogue of her day.
She was one of the first truly international stars with a voice that crossed continents long before today's global celebrity culture.
BBC Inside Out's Josie d'Arby admires this superstar's brooch hidden away in the storerooms of a museum.
The brooch was given to her as a wedding gift from the people of Bristol.
The letters CB on the brooch are the initials of the Victorian singing superstar but they also spell out the City of Bristol.
Although currently in the museum vaults, the brooch will be back on display in the near future.
