A tiger cub, born in captivity at a zoo near Bristol, has died.

The Bengal tiger, named Tumkur, was born on 29 July at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall and died early on Friday.

His mother, Tira, died earlier this month after suffering a long illness. She had rejected her cub and keepers were hand-rearing Tumkur.

The cub's body has been sent to vets at Langford for a post-mortem examination to establish how he died. The results are expected next week.
