Pipistrelle bats are the smallest species in the UK
|
Bat fans of all ages can get up close and personal with the nocturnal winged animals in Bristol later this month. Expert James Field will lead a night time bat-spotting walk at Arnos Vale estate on 24 July 2009 and give an illustrated talk on the creatures. "This walk will give people a chance to find out more about one of the most threatened yet fascinating species in the UK today," said James. The walk lasts about an hour-and-a-half and places must be booked in advance. Using special detectors James can pinpoint the bats, so there could be opportunities to spot one or two different bat species.
