On Wednesday 14 October BBC Bristol Introducing teamed up with Artscare Records to celebrate the life of John Peel at The Thunderbolt in Bristol.

The night featured live performances from Nova Robotics and Joy of Sex, whose lead singer Max declared: "It was good, loud, sweaty, fun."

There were also Peel-friendly DJ sets from Ben James, Annie Gardiner and Dave Artscare.

Dan Moore, keyboard player with local band Phantom Limb, said of Peel: "Who else is going to listen to every record and be so meticulous and supportive?"

Others there on the night described him as "the greatest DJ that ever lived" and "the heart of Glastonbury - he was always there."

At the end of a great evening, Dave from Artscare spoke to BBC Bristol Introducing and said the night had been a resounding success.

"What I'm trying to do and what you're doing with your show is follow Peel's spirit and not be afraid to play different styles of music," he said on BBC Bristol Introducing.
