Bristol Festival a sunny success
Crowds at Bristol Festival
Sunny weather boosted numbers at this year's festival

More than 15,000 people went to the second Bristol Festival on the city's harbourside, event organisers say.

Numbers visiting the seven stages, 10 nightclubs, boat trips and other attractions were up by about 1000.

The festival's Poppy Stephenson said: "After 12 months of very hard work we are delighted to have had such a brilliant weekend.

"Great atmosphere, sunshine and happy people everywhere. We couldn't have asked for more."

Such was the success of the 'Rave on Avon' citywide nightclub, organisers want to increase capacity by involving more clubs for 2010.

The Bristol Festival Community Group (BFCG) was set up in 2007 to launch a new community-focused festival for the South West.

The volunteer-led BFCG was granted full charity status in 2008 (Registered Charity no. 1124722) and key to the group's aims are public consultation, participation and involvement, making the Bristol Festival the only city-wide publicly-directed event.

As well as organising the festival, the group runs a volunteer training programme including mentoring, skills swaps and work experience.

They aim to enable members of the community to gain valuable experience in the events and music industry.
