Have a scary Halloween in Haworth
Cross
Are you scared of things that go bump in the night?

If you are scared of things that go bump in the night, don't go to Haworth this Halloween.

The Haworth graveyard lantern-lit tour is hunting for ghosts.

If you're planning on joining in the spooky fun you may meet more than you bargain for around that corner.

So watch your step as you walk through darkened Victorian streets, past scary ginnels where ghouls, goblins, witches and wizards may help you scurry on your way!

Haworth is famous for its deep dark past, a report published in 1850 claimed 41.6% of children in Haworth died before the age of six average life expectancy was 24. Smallpox, measles, whooping cough, scarlet fever are mentioned frequently as are the deaths of the children.

The famous graveyard which has been in use for over 700 years ago is believed to house over 40,000 souls.

There are many rumours of ghosts in Haworth including the ghost of Room seven at the Old White Lion, the Grey Lady of Weavers Restaurant, and Ponden Hall's harbinger of doom, Old Greybeard.

To mark the Halloween weekend there will be fancy dress competitions, Saturday is Dragon Day - follow the giant Dragon to the sound of drum beat and Sunday is Parade of Horrors - the 'Hawortheen' parade up Main Street - procession at 3pm
