Calling all nature lovers! Come along to the free Springwatch Wild Day Out festival at Sandwell Valley Country Park and discover all about the birds, bugs and beasts that live around the West Midlands.
Join in the fun at Sandwell Valley Country Park
It will be a great day out for all the family, where you can go on a mini-beast hunt, have a go at making the birds their dinner and find out why bees are so important. Learn about countryside crafts, many of which are still vital for Britain's wildlife, and try your hand at pond-dipping. Also take a guided walk and discover what plants, insects and birds live in Sandwell Valley Country Park. The free event takes place on Sunday, 6 June from 11am - 4pm. • Expert advice is on hand from the RSPB, Black Country Living Landscape, Opal, and Thinktank. • See how we can encourage biodiversity in our gardens, parks and outside spaces as part of the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity. • Hear from BBC Midlands Today correspondent David Gregory about the ups and downs of wildlife filming, try out the BBC's 'Be on TV' experience and be the one behind the microphone! • If photography is more your thing, make sure you bring your camera! Wildlife photographer Martyn Chillmaid will be running workshops throughout the day, giving tips on how to get the best pictures of local wildlife. Workshops will be held at 11.30am and 2pm (they run for approx. 2 hours - places are limited and are on a first come basis). • BBC WM will be broadcasting live into the Carl Chinn Show, and you can meet mid-morning presenter Joanne Malin. Bee-friendly seeds BBC WM will have 1000 packets of free bee-friendly wildflower seeds to distribute as part of the
Bee Part Of It! campaign.
The BBC are working with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and Natural England to bring this free family event to Sandwell Valley Country Park, on Sunday, 6 June, from 11am - 4pm.
