Jasper Carrott spoke to BBC WM

Big Birmingham City fan Jasper Carrott has been talking about his hopes for the club ahead of their big Wembley final.

Blues play Arsenal in the Carling Cup Final on Sunday, 27 February 2011.

Jasper said that manager Alex McLeish had got a "great spirit going in the team."

As far as the final was concerned he said: "I think we have to take the game to Arsenal and just hope we're on form and maybe they'll be a touch off."

The game against the Gunners will be Birmingham City's first major Wembley final since their FA Cup Final defeat against Manchester City in 1956.

Wembley final

Talking to Bev Bevan and Jimmy Franks on BBC WM, Jasper said:"Everybody says 'what's our chance' and of course we are very much the underdogs."

However he pointed out that was also the case when, as a First Division side, they played Liverpool in the Worthington Cup Final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in 2001.

Blues lost on penalties in the end then but Jasper said: "We almost won that, so there's always a chance."

Jasper said he thought manager Alex McLeish really got "the best out of everybody".

"We don't always hit the tops...but he [McLeish] has achieved small, minor miracles there I think".
