The Pope's visit to the UK is not only a momentous occasion for pilgrims in the West Midlands but also for those who dedicate their lives to the church.

For would-be priests seeing the pontiff will be a memorable part of their six-year study for the priesthood.

Oscott College in Sutton Coldfield is one of only four seminaries in the UK where young men can train to become a Catholic priest.

Three trainee priests gave BBC WM an insight into their studies and lives.

Oscott College training

The college receives students from dioceses across England and Wales and prepares the next generation of priests for a life of devotion.

Pope Benedict XVI will visit Oscott College as part of his trip to Birmingham on Sunday, 19 September.

The main focus of the Pope's time in the city will be an open-air Mass in front of 70,000 pilgrims in Cofton Park to celebrate the beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman.
